Ashfield First Responders

A Community of volunteers who respond to emergency calls through the 999 system in conjunction with the East Midlands Ambulance Service

Ashfield Community First Responders

Ashfield Community First Responders (CFR’s) are members of the community who volunteer to respond to emergency calls through the 999 system in conjunction with the East Midlands Ambulance Service. Community First Responders provide care to patients in their local areas whilst awaiting the arrival of an Ambulance or Paramedic

Local Support

The Community First Responders undertake life saving support before the Ambulance arrives, further increasing the patient’s chance of survival.

In an ideal world there would be an Ambulance available on every street corner in each town or village. This is not the case and is why the Community First Responders can make such a difference, especially in rural areas.

SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL COMMUNITYTY

At the moment the Ashfield Community First Responder scheme consists of a small team of  members, who are actively on duty responding to 999 calls. Some of the members have full time jobs and respond in there spare time and are working hard to cover the Ashfield area.

Ashfield CFR's

As Community Responders are based within the community in which they live or work, they can attend the scene of a medical emergency in a very short time, ofton arriving before the attendance of an ambulance crew or paramedic.

In the case of Ashfield Community First Responders, in 98% of cases we are the first emergency resource to get to the scene, ofton arriving minutes of the emergency 999 call being made.

Vital Support

In an ideal world there would be an Ambulance available on every street corner in each town or village. This is not the case and is why the Community First Responders can make such a difference, espacially in rural areas. Ashfield Community Responders cover an area within a 3 mile radius of their dispatch point.
